Sangeeta Basu (Bubu) conducts all classes, courses and workshops at Magic Eye. The teaching and learning process is one that requires engagement, willingness and time. In the process of teaching and learning, we also learn how to create open, honest and significant relationships with each other. Those who join these classes find a way to examine who they are, what allows them to become learners for life, and how learning equips them to create life.
We are trained to think that as long as we are smart enough to be acquisitive and create a repository of external resources like degrees, money, reputation, investments, and other material assets, we will have ‘made it’. This, we have always been told, is our ticket to stability, security and a good life.
These are excellent things to have. They have their use and their place in our lives.
Consider just this: all external, material resources will fall into your hands. How you treat these resources and the relationship you have with this world will either turn it all to gold or dust. It turns out that you are the pivotal point in this exercise of ‘making it’.
By default, we have learnt to pay attention to everything we wish to acquire in material and tangible terms. We have not been encouraged to pay attention to our self with any deliberation.
Learning about the self and how it expands and operates is a basic and necessary education. It brings home to you what your human power really is.
The stability and security you search for are within you. You are always and ever the only creator of your good life. Self in Process opens the door to an education that does not give you any degrees; it does give you the key to create your own life experience.
We have learnt how to choose thoughts deliberately. That is our freedom. We now learn how to maintain the new pathway of thought. When we are able to do that with consistency, we create stability within our Self. Now, we are strong enough to hold the life experience that we create.

Self In Process: Think Again began on the 28th of January, 2025 and ended on the 4th of February, 2025.
It was lovely to see many familiar faces back for some more learning together. Those who were new to this experience, brought their own wonderful energy to the group.
Self In Process:Think Again was, in a sense, a continuation of the work we had done in the previous course. This course taught us a few thinking skills that pushed us to break away from habitual patterns of thought. We trained our minds to find ways to think outside our comfort zone. We learnt what it means to observe detail and gather detail. We learnt how to identify our own preferences whenever we experience life. From these preferences come our decisions. We learnt how to take decisions in an integrated, authentic way. We took a look at how consequences of decisions become our life experience.
Deepest appreciation and gratitude to Divya Somani, Aroonabh Arsh, Mudra Sharma, Ananya Arsh, Shallom Nnabuihe, Neha Jhunjhunwala, Arvind Menon, Avni Agarwal, Varnica Chabria, Vansh Thakkar and Kumkum Jalan for their time and commitment to our journey together in learning about the Self.
Self In Process: Don’t Have Time began on the 19th of November, 2024 and ended on the 24th of November, 2024. We had a full workshop of 10 participants. Much was learned, much unlearned. We had questions and we discovered some answers. We left the workshop with some new insights and thoughts about the Self and life. We acquired useful tools and techniques to apply to our living. Most importantly, we found a bit of home at Magic Eye.
My deepest gratitude and appreciation to Mudra Sharma, Divya Somani, Eshna Chandak, Hanna Girsule, Aroonabh Arsh, Varnica Chabria, Neha Jhunjhunwala, Mohini Gupta, Mitali Dasgupta and Aritra Ganguly for taking the time to be a part of this journey.
If there is an utterly inadequate definition of Language, it is this: Language is a means of communication. You redefine Language in these classes, go back to the basics, and discover the duality of strict structures of logic and the beautiful abstraction of metaphor that make up language.
You learn that Language is patterns of sounds, symbols and signs. You learn about meaning and function. You learn how to construct patterns. You learn how to invest meaning in each pattern. You learn how to read. You learn how to create narrative. You learn how to place an argument and justify your opinion.
The objective is to strengthen conceptual basics and bring to you the love of language.
All day, every day, we tell our own story. More than we realize consciously, we narrate our lives into being. In writing class, we come to understand that our own narrative is the most powerful tool in our hands.
You will learn how to write so that you find the expression of your self. You will explore films, books, poetry, music, photographs, documentaries, and many other forms of expression to discover how others have been narrators of life experience.
It is a space in which you find the freedom to create the narrative that is you.
